Ottawa- Today at 10:10 a.m. local time, Inky Mark was officially sworn in as the member of the 37th Parliament representing Dauphin-Swan River.
Mark said his oath of allegiance was slightly different from the one he took when first elected in 1997. This oath was exclusive to Canadian Alliance members.
For the record, Mark said: " I, Inky Mark, do pledge that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to Canada and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and that I will faithfully represent the people of the electoral district of Dauphin-Swan River in the House of Commons."
Mark said after the swearing in that even though he is a returning MP, it is still a heady experience.
"I am so honored to be here and to represent the constituents from Dauphin-Swan River. Coming back for a second time hasn't made the trip any less special," Mark commented.
He went on to say that he and his staff will work to ensure that constituents get equal and unbiased representation. Mark said the Mission Statement of his office says it all. That statement reads:
Our commitment is to provide accessible, knowledgeable assistance to the constituents of Dauphin-Swan River ensuring that government is responsible and accountable to everyone equally.
