Mark's historic Bill C-331 now Canadian law

(Ottawa) After two decades of promises, lobbying and waiting, Canada's Ukrainian community finally saw Bill C-331 become law late Friday afternoon.

Inky Mark, MP for Dauphin-Swan River-Marquette and author of Private Member's Bill C-331 explained, "After passing the Senate early Friday afternoon, C-331 received Royal Assent and officially became Canadian law later that day."

Mark is the first M.P. in the history of his riding to succeed in having a significant Private Member's Bill, other than a riding name change bill, become law.

Mark concluded, "I am very grateful to all parties in the House of Commons and Senate for working together on the eve of the impending federal election to ensure that Canada's Ukrainian community receives the closure it deserves."
