Liberal mini-budget offers $30 billion cash for votes
(Ottawa) Yesterday Canada’s Liberal Minister of Finance gave his fall economic update announcing tax cuts and other measures totalling $30 billion dollars over the next 5 to 10 years.
Inky Mark, Member of Parliament for Dauphin-Swan River-Marquette commented, “Who trusts Liberal sincerity after 12 years of over-taxation, decreased services including health and post-secondary education access, corruption and scandal? Fear of the impending federal election and loss of government has backed them so far into a corner that they’re ready to return some of the bounty they’ve pirated from Canadian taxpayers.”
“Part of the $30 billion surplus includes $13 billion from this year alone. That’s $13 billion Canadians have been overtaxed this year. Instead of stopping their practice of overtaxing, they offer a small return with hopes of continuing their spending pattern,” Mark continued.
Farm families were ignored in yesterday’s announcement. There were no additional monies for the CAIS program, no direct dollars to help Rancher’s Choice and the Parkland hemp growers, and no new measures to help producers affected by low grain prices or the BSE crisis.
“This is nothing more than an attempt by the Liberals to buy more time in government with cash for votes,” Mark concluded.
