The Dauphin-Swan River-Marquette Riding contains more community governments to service than any other Manitoba riding, and is geographically larger than the combined area of it's neighbours Portage Lisgar and Brandon-Souris Ridings.

Members of Parliament receive the same budget allotment to cover the cost of operating offices in Ottawa and their riding. They choose how to divide this budget between the two locations.

Of the 308 federal ridings in Canada, Dauphin-Swan River-Marquette has the 5th lowest average family income and the 3rd lowest individual income. The majority of the Dauphin-Swan River-Marquette budget allotment is spent in the riding rather than in Ottawa.

Because of the large size, Inky Mark has established a central constituency office in Dauphin, the largest community within the riding. He also set up nine Community Support Offices throughout the riding. The majority of residents are with a 1/2 hour drive of one of the community support offices.

The constituency offices provide administrative, research and casework services for constituents experiencing problems with federal government departments. Some of the services provided include:

• citizens advocate / liaison with all departments of the federal government
• correspond with foreign and domestic government departments to help resolve disputes
• source of information for constituents
• keep track of public opinion on various issues

More than 300 constituent inquiries are resolved monthly. At any given time, there are two to three dozen active cases.
