Standing Committee on Agriculture
Near the end of 1999 and the beginning of 2000, the Standing Committee on Agriculture conducted a limited series of meetings with agriculture producers. MP Inky Mark participated in meetings held in Portage la Prairie and Dauphin Manitoba on December 6, 1999. The Committee was chaired by Winnipeg Liberal MP John Harvard, and lasted only five days. Although Mr. Harvard agreed that the government had to rethink it's position on the farm crisis, the Committee report did little to convince the government of Jean Chretien that there is indeed a crisis in agriculture. In response to the inadequacy of the report from the Committee, the Canadian Alliance members presented a minority report from the Committee.
